I try to get out to the Family Circle Cup women’s tennis tournament on Daniel Island at least one day each year, since I not only love playing and watching tennis, but I also really love photographing tennis. Despite the rainy weather all day, and the chilly (might as well say COLD) conditions, the featured evening match did finally start once the courts were dried (with towels!). In the meantime, while waiting for center court to dry, we were able to catch the last few games between Jelena Jankovic (who lost in the finals on Sunday against Serena Williams) and Jessica Pegula on Althea Gibson court, in addition to getting a courtside seat to Samantha Stosur’s warmup session on an outlying court. Sadly, Stosur had to withdraw from her match in the second set due to a calf injury, but it was an enjoyable match while it lasted, and Stosur’s opponent, Eugenie Bouchard from Canada is one to watch!
